Victoria

Winged goddess of victory

victorysuccessachievementtriumph

Also called Nike (Greek).

Their story

Victoria received a temple on the Palatine in 294 BC, and the Magna Mater was lodged there when she first arrived. Augustus placed a statue and altar of Victory in the Senate house, where senators offered incense before meetings. In AD 382 the altar was removed by the Christian emperor Gratian. The senator Symmachus pleaded for its return, and Bishop Ambrose argued against, one of the last great debates of Roman religion.
